- According to Your word. Strengthen me according to Your word. It is an utterly different thing to ask because what my flesh would like would be to be able to draw strength from myself or by my own feelings, etc. No. Tis not possible! Strengthen me according to Your word. It is life.
Psalm 119:32
I shall run the way of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart.
- Following God's voice (which is enabled only because of Him) will open up room in my heart to be more lovely myself, love my husband, love Halie, love the unlovely, etc.
Psalm 119: 37
Turn away my eyes from looking at vanity and revive me in Your ways.
- Things that seek to entangle me with shine or glitter that are a means only to materialism or just the plain 'ole American dream-- make my eyes turn away from them! Make me loathe anything that I place in front of You. And bring to life more and more the things and ideas that make much of You, Jesus.
Psalm 119:45
And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts.
- At liberty. Towards freedom. In freedom from the bondage of sin.
Psalm 119:55
I remember Your name in the night and keep Your law.
- Hardship has begun to permeate my thoughts in the night before going to sleep. My mind is restless and my heart dwells on things that I should reject with great immediacy. But on Your Name, I will ponder and dwell upon throughout the night in the heat of my hardship.
Psalm 119: 68
...You are good and You do good.
- A thank you is in order to Marty who shared this verse with us all on Tuesday at the Ruth Precepts study last week.

Yea I like all of Psalm 119 a bunch, but that verse 55 is especially sweet. When we are awakened at night with worries or concerns, it is excellent to praise God's name and worship him fervently. First, it is just a good practice, and second, it kills worry.
Jessica - I'm so glad I found your blog. I've enjoyed reading through it mostly. I could have done without the couple spots you had me squirming. :)
Have you read David Powlison's Speaking Truth in Love? It's an awesome book on how to "one-another." In it, he does an excellent exegesis on Psalm 119 that makes the whole book worthwhile. Looking forward to seeing what else you mine from Psalm 119.
My dad actually just gave me that book to read. I am looking forward to delving into it.
