Gracias...
My family is like that really comfy middle cushion on the couch. You know the one that I'm referring to, right? It's the place where when you sit on it, you just sink into its big, warm arms. Well, that's my family.
Brian and I spent some time with my mom and dad last night (on their really comfortable couch). When I left, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for them and for how they are always planting into our lives, even when they don't realize it. Both Mom and Dad are each rock solid individuals and each have passionate relationships with Christ.
They will be celebrating their twenty-fourth wedding annviersary on the 22nd of this month. Now that I am "grown up" (I'm not really, it's just a phrase) and married, I really value their Christ-centered marriage and how they have worked to really glorify Christ through their marriage (even and ESPECIALLY when it was hard).
They have raised three kids... and I am really fond of the other two. Bethany and Mark are my two dearest friends. They really know me, yet they really love me-- it's crazy. I am thankful to God for capturing each of our hearts at the different times that He did and for parents who discipled us on purpose (even though their lives were busy).
Mom and Dad always took the time to make the most of each opportunity to train us up in the knowledge and love of Christ. They cultivated what God planted and continue to do so even now that we're older.
So, this is to you, Mom and Dad. I am thrilled beyond measure with the Lord's choice of you both as my parents.
Love,
your firstborn

Sweet post - you always look hard for evidences of grace in us. Your view of history, as it relates to our parenting, is very gracious and forgiving. God has done great things in you guys in spite of us.
